Five Tips to get the Best
Engagement Photos!
Engagement photo shoots are some of my absolute FAVORITE shoots to do! But they can be intimidating and a lot of people are nervous but feeling more prepared can HELP! I have put together 5 tips that can help you prepare for you engagement photo shoot! And remember I will act as your mirror, fix your hair help, help you pose and look your best!
1. Splurge on Hair and Makeup!
Feeling confident is beautiful!
NOT only is it a great idea for your engagement photos but it is a great way to have a “practice run” for your wedding day! Did you like the hair and makeup artist? Did you like how your makeup translated in a photo? Photos require slightly more saturated makeup then your everyday look so that you don’t become washed out.
2. Make a day out of it
Block off the day and take it easy, go get your hair done, make sure your outfits are pressed and ready, and then maybe after your photo shoot go out and celebrate with drinks a dinner! I like to pick a Sunday afternoon a couple hours before sunset and just take our time….
3. Pick outfits you are comfortable in!
I want you to feel like yourselves and comfortable enough to move around in! Pick two outfits one more dressy and then one more casual then add layers such as scarf or jackets. And try to stay away from patterns that maybe distracting.
Thinking about choosing an outfit that you will not be fussing over the whole day (something too tight or loose). Choose something that makes you feel like a million bucks! This feeling will transfer to your engagement photos I promise you!
4. Set the Scene!
Location, Location, Location
Location is everything, so before heading to your neighborhood park, think about what you really love to do together and what locations would represent that. What do you like to do together? Be outside, downtown, going out to dinner, etc… Where did you meet? Are there locations here in town that are special to you? College campus, restaurants, in your own home, or parks?
I like to design your shoot to tell your love story and let your personalities shine! The best time of day is in the afternoon a few hours before sunset…. The lighting is romantic and we can end with sunset photos!
5. When in doubt, Kiss
It can feel a little awkward in front of the camera. The truth is I feel awkward too! Some of my absolute favorite photos are when couples are just having fun together! Remember I will help guide you and position you to feel more natural and when in doubt just talk to each other, laugh, and of course KISS!
Every part of your engagement photo shoot is personalized to you and your love story and personalities. If you don’t have ideas NO worries I am full of them 🙂 We can start by just talking about how you met, how you got engaged, what do you like to do on the weekends and go from there!
Follow these tips and you will not only have amazing engagement photos but also have fun!
