My Beautycounter Story
Christie Vorndran
TODAY we need much more then a headshot for Linkedin, we need a whole gallery of photos that shows are brand, personality and tells our story! This is an example of a photoshoot that Christie and I put together for her and her business. Big thanks to Della Leva Espresso Bar for letting us use their stunning coffee shop!
I’ve always strived to live a healthy life style. I like finding healthy recipes and being active. It was when I became pregnant with my son that I really became more aware of what ingredients I was not only putting in my body, but also what I was putting on my body. There are certain ingredients you’re not supposed to use while being pregnant and that made be wonder the reasoning why. Why is it okay to use an ingredient while I am not pregnant, but when I am pregnant, it is not okay. After doing research, I found that some of the ingredients that are not to be used during pregnancy have been linked to serious diseases and illnesses. I want to stay away from harmful ingredients not just while I was pregnant, but always!
I was intrigued with learning more about safer ingredients. I found it very alarming that the United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938. That law contains sizable loopholes that allow companies to include toxic chemicals in products that we use everyday.
As a woman, I still want to try look good but I don’t want it to be at the expense of my health. While researching companies that use safer ingredients, I found Beautycounter. Beautycounter is an education first, product second company. They are all about transparency and have set their standards that go beyond the requirements of the law. They created The Never List which consists of 1,500 banned ingredients that have been linked to cancer, birth defects, hormone disruption, and other serious illnesses. Not only are the products safe, but they are very chic and high performing!
Beautycounter’s mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. One way Beautycounter is following their mission is by advocating for stricter and more health protective laws. Beautycounter took the movement to Congress and educated members on the need for more safety regulations as well as the importance of removing harmful ingredients from our personal care products.
I care so deeply about this topic, and I knew that I had to be more than just client. I joined Beautycounter’s mission because I want to educate others and help them make better and safer choices for themselves and their families. I hope that one day we will not have to read the labels on products to see if the ingredients are safe. Also, I hope that my son will be able to say that his mom was a part of the movement that changed the industry.
A few of my Beautycounter favorites:
The Charcoal and Balancing Line has been a tremendous game changer for my skin. Charcoal is a magnet to impurities. I love the charcoal bar, #3 mist, #3 balancing facial oil, and #3 charcoal mask.
The Cleansing Balm: This balm does it all! It has many uses. It’s amazing for hydration! I like to use the balm for a cleanser (it melts Makeup off) and a hydrating mask.
Overnight Resurfacing Peel: After using the peel, my skin feels so soft and it’s awesome for reducing the appearance of fine lines.
The baby and kids line: It is so soft and gentle for little ones skin. I love knowing I’m using the safest products without any hidden ingredients on my little guy.
